This week I'm celebrating the launch of my short webcomic called Latchkey Kids! You can read it for free on Line Webtoon in the Discover + Comedy section.
I'll be posting the second episode next week. I chose simple characters so that I could draw them faster. Once I get used to the entire process of comic making from laying the pages out, inking, digital coloring, converting to the Webtoon format, and uploading each panel into Webtoon, I would like to draw more detailed panels.
I'm also celebrating a new comic contest. It's just what I need to light the fire under my butt to get me moving on my comics. I probably wouldn't have launched my comic today if I hadn't found out about the contest yesterday. I needed to launch it before I post the comics for the contest because the same characters are in it. It wouldn't make sense to post that comic in the middle of my longer graphic novel type of comic. It's either at the beginning or end. I was already done with the inking and coloring. I just needed to arrange and convert the panels in the proper format.
Friday was the first day off from school for my kids, so we watched our first daily summer movie together. I wanted to show them Real Genius, but it wasn't available so we watched Liar, Liar with Jim Carrey instead. I'm going to try to watch a movie with them every weekday this summer. That may not happen with this contest, though. I'll have to see if I can swing it. The movies I have planned for the coming weeks are Big, The Day After Tomorrow, Groundhog Day, Heaven Can Wait, Father of the Bride, Dirty Dancing, Race To Witch Mountain, Honey, I Shrunk the Kids, The Last Action Hero, Selena, A Wrinkle in Time, Castaway, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Chronicles of Narnia, Ender's Game, Say Anything, and a few new movies.
Due to this contest, I may not be posting much until September unless I decide not to do it or I can't keep up.
What are you celebrating?
