We finally got rain this week. Yay! It's so nice not to have to water the yard. More rain is coming! I hope it doesn't change.
With all the pollen in the air and getting on my dogs' fur, I was sneezing all day and night. Even after wiping them down before they came in and giving them baths, it didn't stop. I cut the bigger dog's hair and the continuous sneezing stopped. My husband got mad at me for cutting the dog's hair because now it's cold, but this is California cold which is not really that cold technically. I saw some men wearing shorts this morning taking their kids to school. I, personally, was freezing and my fingers were numb in ~52°F/11°C. One lady was wearing flip flops. What?! Why?!
I guess it's a California thing where men wear thick jackets and shorts on a cold day. I guess their legs don't get cold. Interesting.
My dogs are indoors most of the time, so it's not like my dog is suffering. Plus, she gets fleece blankets. She's a princess. Our other dog stinks even after a bath, so he's next.
This week I cooked two dishes my family loved off of recipes from the Yumly app. One was Easy Mixed Vegetable Curry. I actually loved it more than my family, but they didn't complain so I consider it a hit.
I also made mochi which my husband and older son love. It's the first time I made it. My husband was a little mad that dinner was a late because I started cooking the mochi first. I ate a piece before giving it to my family to see if it was good. It was! I tried to hide my smile as I handed them a piece while they were watching TV. My husband took a bite and nodded. My sons were like, "Hm. It's pretty good." I was back in the kitchen and in less than a minute, my husband and older son were looking for more.
My husband said, "You're holding out on me woman! All these years and only NOW you're making mochi!" I had cut them in big pieces, but he started cutting them smaller so they would last longer. He said, "I know you. You're probably not going to make these again, so we have to make them last."
The next day, my son ate five pieces after school. There were only four left. He said, "Now we each get a piece." I said, "But you already ate five! What about Daddy?" Later, I ate the smallest piece. A couple of hours later, he said, "There's a piece missing!" I don't get why they like it so much. I'm going to have to buy a few more boxes of Mochiko to make more batches. Luckily, it's super easy to make. Otherwise, I wouldn't make it anytime soon because I'm not a dessert maker.
I had a good drawing week on my graphic novel and got a few more pages done. I thumbnailed out more stories and did some research online. I'm feeling better about it and more confident that I can launch my webcomics this year. Hopefully I can keep up the pace.
What are you celebrating?
