Celebrate the Small Things - January 19, 2018

I mentioned to my uncle that I could've fixed our TV if I had a soldering iron, but I didn't want to go out and get one. He said he had a bunch of tools he wasn't using, including a soldering iron in his basement and said he would send them to me. Wow! He's trying to clean out his house, so I it works out for both of us. Just in time because our other TV just broke a few days ago as well! I found out how to fix them via YouTube.

I also found out how to fix CDs and DVDs off of YouTube. I tried it on my old portable DVD player and it worked! I was able to listen to my old Cranberries CD on it after hearing that Dolores O'Riordan died. Heartbreak and happiness at the same time.

Now I'm looking around the house for broken electronics that I can bring back to life. Hahaha!

I actually threw out a remote belonging to a broken DVD player that has been sitting around our house for years. Literally within two hours I saw the same remote on a website on how to pair your old remote to your Apple TV. I was looking all over the house for our Apple TV remote and getting angrier by the second because I couldn't find it. I looked up how to get a new one and lo and behold I saw a YouTube video on how to pair an old remote. The remote on the cover image was the same remote we have! Wow! What are the odds of that? I fished the remote out of the trash (which grossed my son out), cleaned it off with rubbing alcohol and paired it to the Apple TV. It worked! It even turned the Apple TV on which you can't do using the digital remote app on your phone.

My husband and I went to the comic shop and he bought me the Lynda Barry book, The Good Times Are Killing Me, which is kind of hard to find unless you order it online. I've read almost all of her books except for that one. I love Lynda Barry!

Last thing to celebrate is my son's interest in cooking. He wanted to make his own style of tacos which he did last night. It's heart-clogging since it includes butter, but it was delicious!  I'm hoping that one of these days he'll do some of the cooking which will free up some of my time.

I am part of a blog hop hosted by Lexa Cain and co-hosted by L.G. Keltner and Tonja Drecker. Please be so kind as to visit their blogs and participating blogs listed below.
