Celebrate The Small Things - Oct. 22

I was on a two-month cleaning binge which threw my routine completely off. I'm finally getting back into the swing of things.

I thought I had drawn 32 pages of rough illustrations to complete the dummy for my picture book, but when my husband scanned and printed them he told me there were 31. My happy balloon deflated a little. I'm in the process of drawing the missing page, but so far it's not working for me. It's close, though so I can celebrate that.

The novel I've been working on for at least a couple years is moving along at a snail's pace, but lately I've been getting good ideas for parts that I was stuck on. It's taking me in different directions like building a sculpture out of clay. You add, you take away, you mold and shape. I'm finding it hard to cut unncessary characters or elements. Part of me hopes that something brilliant will come to me to keep them in the book. It will be so great when one day everything falls into place. *sigh*

This month I discovered Inktober! In October, people who participate create an ink drawing a day and post it online. Here is my drawing for the day:

  1. Love your drawing. I used to be good (compared to the rest of my year) at art at school. But never good enough to do anything with it. :(

O know the pain in killing your darlings too . . . but if they serve no purpose, they gotta go. And once you suck out the stuffing, the whole thing is tighter, smoother. Do it! :)

  3. I love the beautifully wild redhead! I’m sorry about the missing page. That sucks. Good luck with the new page and with slow-but-sure progress on your novel. Have a lovely weekend! :)

  5. COOL drawing! I am in awe of your cleaning binge, though. I can't even clean for an afternoon without being over it!

  6. Your ink drawing is wonderful! I dabble in a lot of things, art-wise, but I need to up my ink game. You've inspired me!
