A to Z Challenge: Y is for Yeti

I wasn't very interested in Yeti or Bigfoot stories until I read Missing 411: Unexplained disappearances of North American that have never been solved by David Paulides.

The thought that this humanoid, hominid, or creature could be kidnapping people and possibly eating them blew my mind. The author never gives his opinion on who is kidnapping these people, but it sure seems like it's a Yeti or Bigfoot.

There are lots of mind-boggling, fascinating cases in this book. Many sad ones, too. There was a case where a man was out in the woods with his kids picking berries or something when his daughter goes missing. He and his young son go looking for her. He finds his daughter who doesn't know what thing tried to kidnap her. As he's happy to find his daughter, his son goes missing and is never seen again. How sad is that!

I tried to play super sleuth to figure out what happened to these people, but there is just no solution to the bizarre ways these people went missing.

There is another case where a boy AND his pony both went missing where they could not have left from the path without being seen.

However, there ARE happy endings to some of the stories.

Even if you're not into Bigfoot, but like unsolved mysteries, you will probably like this book. There are 2 of them. One for the Western U.S. cases and the other for the Eastern U.S. cases. Again, the author never says it's Bigfoot. It could be other things. He just gives you the facts and you are left to try to figure out what happened.
