Lisa has been my best friend since we were in the second grade. We reminisce a lot about the past. Sometimes she remembers things that I don't recall at all and vice versa.
She remembered when we were kids and got in trouble for bringing our piggy banks to school. My dad found out that we were trying to pool our money and he called her dad. I don't remember any of this, but I asked her, "What were we going to buy?"
She said, "A typewriter."
I said, "Why did we want to buy a typewriter?"
She said, "So you could write your stories."
I wish I could remember what stories I wanted to write.
After all these years, I did end up writing stories. I wrote a Young Adult novel called Lilah in Love which is also part of my L word challenge for the day. In college, I wanted to write a novel, but didn't pursue it until much later.
I hope Lisa's reminder that I always wanted to write is a sign that writing is what I'm meant to do. I didn't even realize it and wouldn't have known if she hadn't brought it up.
Around the same time, my cousin Linette told me that I always wanted to write since I was a kid. I guess she is part of the L word, too.
It's strange when people can see things about you that you didn't know yourself.
